Last Minute Musings

Pink

Today had been mostly cloudy and overcast, so I wasn't expecting much for a sunset. We were out at Barren River, Ky and suddenly the sky was pink and getting pinker! It was beautiful!

Texture

I found this lovely blackened, burnt log at the beach at Barren River, Ky this afternoon. I liked the pebbly texture from a distance, but up close I could see the grain of the wood as well.

Trio

This trio of House Sparrows was sitting on a low wall outside the National Archives.

I cropped a distracting piece of white pipe from the bottom of the picture (and some of the greenry at the top to make it more balanced and less top heavy) and increased the saturation a bit.

Looking Down

We took our 17 year-old son to Washington DC this week. On Thursday, we took the Metrorail subway to the National Zoo.  (A first time experience for my son and I--they don't have that sort of thing around here).  This escalator was very long (high?)--my husband held on to me from behind while I took my hands off the rail to take the picture.  Sorry I can't give all that helpful camera information--I just have a point and shoot Canon Powershot A560.  I do think I used the "Night Snapshot" setting since the light was so dim.
